Each season comes with its own set of allergies, but in Egypt, the spring and summer are definitely strong allergy seasons. Due to the number of insect bites and the allergies that come with it, you could find yourself really struggling. Instead of letting allergy season in Egypt ruin your summer, here are some precautions to consider:
Keep your antihistamine medication close by
One of the best ways to make sure your allergies don’t affect your summer or ruin your mood is by having your allergy medication on you at all times. Using antihistamine medication will not only cure the symptoms but unlike other allergy medications, it will not make you feel drowsy. This makes it a necessary precaution for anyone who suffers from severe allergies in Egypt.
Use insect repellent
As many of the allergies can be caused due to insects in the summer, it is advisable to use insect repellent. This will prevent them from biting you, leaving a mark, and also causing an allergic reaction.
The sun in the summer can be pretty strong and for people with sensitive skin, you could easily develop an allergy from the heat. Especially if you’re heading out to the beach, use sunscreen to protect your skin, stay in the shade ,and be sure to stay hydrated. Keep a pack of Telfast with you just in case as it can come in really handy when allergy strikes.
Wash your bedsheets and blankets regularly
Choosing your fabrics to avoid dust mites from forming is one thing, but cleaning your bedsheets and blankets is essential to prevent allergies from dust mites. However, when washing your beddings, you need to make sure that it’s washed in hot water that is at least 55 degrees to ensure that it kills dust mites.
Clean your floors once a week
Dust in Egypt tends to show up quite easily and if you don’t clean your floors at least once a week, it can really bring out your allergies. In order to make cleaning the floors a lot easier, it is best to remove carpeting or rugs and use tiles, vinyl or concrete flooring instead. When cleaning the floors and making it as dust-free as possible to prevent allergies, be sure to use unscented cleaning products.
Install a dehumidifier
Air circulation is pretty important when it comes to allergies and that’s why you should always let fresh air in on a daily basis. However, the best way is to use an air purifier or dehumidifier as fresh air contains pollen and humidity.
