With schools operating again, parents have been torn between rejoicing that they’ll get some free time and being worried sick about their children. With many schools offering a part-time on ground schedule for students mixed with Zoom online sessions for the rest of the week, there has been a lot of thought and safety procedures taken to keep students safe.

However, a couple of days ago, The British International School in Cairo, Sheikh Zayed branch, had to shut down a year-11 classroom after finding two confirmed cases. The entire class has been asked to postpone their on-ground attendance until the 27th of September in an attempt to keep the students and the staff members safe.
While the school is doing the best it can to keep their students safe, it is raising a lot of questions to whether schools resuming was the best decision given the current situation. For those wondering what precautions schools are taking, here’s the health and safety precautions BISC is following:

The question still remains on whether schools will be able to handle the situation and keep the virus from spreading. While BISC managed to handle the situation and follow protocol, having confirmed cases within the first week of school raises so many concerns and red flags. We hope that other schools will be able to keep the situation under control and be able to follow the same health and safety measures that BISC is taking.
