This week has been rough on everyone. The number of positive coronavirus cases has increased, and sadly, so has the number of people who have passed away during the pandemic. Everyone is on edge and panic is spreading like wildfire. The Egyptian government has been pleading citizens for months to be cautious and it seems that the next step is co-existing with the virus, whether we like it or not.
During an interview with Sherif Amer, the Minister of Social Solidarity, Nivine El-Qabbage, stated that special needs nurseries will operate with the implementation of extreme precautionary measures. Mothers should expect all nurseries to be fully operating within the next two weeks. However, if the coronavirus situation does not improve until then, the decision will be postponed. El-Qabbage further explained that Egypt is closely monitoring other countries’ experiences with the lockdown and co-existing with the virus for guidance.
Many mothers will definitely be obliged to send their children back to nurseries. Some of these ladies are the sole providers of their families and losing their jobs is not an option. We kindly expect women to be kind to one another and refrain from judging and shaming those who cannot keep their children home.
Stay safe everyone.
